NORTHERN COLORADO NONPROFIT SECTOR PARTNERSHIP

Sustainable Funding
Committee Charter: Sustainable Funding Committee
Committee Title: Sustainable Funding
Committee Charge
The Sustainable Funding Committee seeks to support the work of local nonprofit organizations in securing and maintaining sustainable funding sources. This involves developing strategies to diversify funding streams, connect organizations with educational resources, enhance fundraising efforts, and ensure long-term financial stability for nonprofits within the Northern Colorado region.
Purpose
The Sustainable Funding Committee will focus on:
Developing and strengthening partnership strategies among nonprofits, funders, public entities, and the private sector.
Providing a list of resources and training for nonprofits to improve their fundraising capabilities.
Identifying and promoting diverse funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and other revenue-generating activities.
Collaborating with additional Nonprofit Sector Partnership Committees, as appropriate, to ensure holistic support for nonprofit sustainability (e.g., financial management, strategic planning).
The Committee Chair(s) will attend the Executive Committee meetings and provide consistent reports regarding progress. All financial requests should be elevated to the Executive Committee.
Meeting Frequency
The Sustainable Funding Committee will meet a minimum of four times a year prior to the quarterly sector meetings, with the potential to add more meetings if needed.
Strategic Alignment
The primary work of the Sustainable Funding Committee aligns with the overall goals of the NoCo Nonprofit Sector Partnership, which aims to create a strong, collaborative nonprofit sector that improves community wellbeing. The committee’s efforts will focus on ensuring nonprofits in Northern Colorado are financially strong and sustainable. Alignment with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) principles should be integrated into the committee's primary work.
Boundaries/Expectations/Scope
This section establishes clear expectations and sets boundaries for topics within the purview of the committee, ensuring they are not duplicating the efforts or services provided by other groups within the sector partnership.
Stakeholders, Guiding Principles, and Assumptions
Nonprofits are the business leaders of this committee. They drive the discussion, set the agenda, and identify common priorities for action that impact the overall success of the sector. Public partners are the support team made up of funders, education, workforce development, and economic development leaders.
Outcomes
Recruit additional nonprofit professionals to join the committee to ensure adequate representation from nonprofit partners.
Survey the Nonprofit Sector Partnership nonprofits regarding their barriers to General Operations Funding to create a stronger understanding of the committee’s scope of work.
Work with local educational programs and public partners to create increased awareness and exposure to sustainable funding strategies and solutions.
Committee Team Members
The committee can be composed of nonprofit leaders, public partners, and government/education officials. Nonprofit leaders are the core members, with public partners and officials providing expertise and connections to the NoCo Sector Partnership work. There is no limit to the number of committee members. There will be two co-chair positions elected from within the committee members. Co-Chair positions will serve a minimum term of two years, with a maximum of three years to allow for new leadership opportunities for members. There is no term limit for committee membership, and there will be no penalty for a committee member to step off the committee.
Communication Dissemination
Committee chairs will provide written updates after each committee meeting to the Executive Committee. Committee chairs are invited to attend the monthly Executive Committee meeting, with the expectation that at least one of the chairs attend. Committee members may share information with sector partners and the community when it has been determined by the Executive Committee that their communication strategies align with the NoCo Sector Partnership goals and direction.
