NORTHERN COLORADO NONPROFIT SECTOR PARTNERSHIP

Community Awareness
Noco Nonprofit Sector Partnership
Committee Charter - Community Awareness
This Committee is established between the Community Awareness and Nonprofit Sector Partnership Executive Committee to structure the process and planned outcomes for the partnership.
Committee Title: Community Awareness
Committee Charge
The primary work to be accomplished by the body. This section establishes clear expectations and purpose.
Purpose
The members of the Community Awareness committee have reviewed this document and agreed that the primary purpose(s) of our sector committee is to focus on elevating community awareness and understanding of the work, value, and significant impact of nonprofit organizations in our community through the following identified initiatives:
Connect: Assist nonprofits in connecting directly and compellingly with businesses, civic & government entities, community members, volunteers, business leaders, and additional sectors to build and advance ongoing organizational support. Our committee is keen on working towards a central repository of nonprofit knowledge and offerings to compliment programs like 2.1.1
Collaborate: Nonprofits seeking new opportunities to step out of ‘silos’ to collaborate within the sector on collective issues, clearer identification of services/programming to facilitate improved networking and support between sector organizations and identifying outside opportunities to collaborate with community members to remove the barriers between the for-profit and nonprofit entities, leaders, and changemakers.
Communicate: Communicating our nonprofit organizations out to the world to help people understand the importance of the nonprofit sector and what each individual organization does and how they are individually important. Explain the critical impact nonprofits provide and the unrecognized needs nonprofits fill in our communities that affect economic growth to realize stronger relationships in support of this work.
This committee will meet monthly to advance the work of the team in support of identified initiatives and ongoing reports and updates will be consistently made to the executive committee as well as any financial requests on behalf of this committee.
Meeting Frequency
The Community Awareness committee has agreed to meet virtually for 60-90 minutes on a monthly basis and attend scheduled All-Partner meetings as available.
Strategic Alignment
The Community Awareness committee members are focused on aligning the work of our specific committee with the goals and initiatives of our sector and co-committees to support a strong and collaborative group that improves the wellbeing of our communities while ensuring nonprofit organizations in Northern Colorado are strong and sustainable. Alignment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) shall be a priority in the work of the Community Awareness committee.
Boundaries/Expectations/Scope
The Community Awareness committee is keenly focused on establishing clear boundaries around the work of our committee as not to duplicate efforts or services of co-committees, partners, or groups within the sector partnership. Our committee is looking to rely on regular committee updates to help guide our work and the work and progress of others.
Stakeholders, Guiding Principles and Assumptions
Nonprofits are the business leaders of this committee. They drive the discussion, set the agenda, and identify common priorities for action that impact the overall success of the sector. Public partners are the support team made up of funders, education, workforce development, and economic development leaders.
Outcomes
The current outcomes goal of the Community Awareness committee is to assign actionable items within our committee on a monthly basis focused on moving our initiatives forward to advance awareness of the Northern Colorado Nonprofit Sector and the work of the Community Awareness Committee in:
Introducing and connecting Northern Colorado nonprofits directly and compellingly with businesses, community partners, civic & government entities and community members.
Connect and collaborate with individual nonprofits, facilitate networking, improve support between nonprofits, identify outside opportunities to raise awareness to the work and missions of area nonprofits, and grow opportunities for support of the sector through strong community engagement and relationships.
Communicate the importance of the nonprofit sector and the work of individual organizations to garner support, funding, and brand awareness as we educate on the critical impact nonprofits invest in, and on, our communities while spotlighting the unrecognized needs of the nonprofit community.
Committee Team Members
The committee can be composed of nonprofit leaders, public partners and government/education officials. Nonprofit leaders are the core members with public partners and officials aligning to the nonprofit and workforce communities and providing expertise for and connection to the NoCo Sector partnership work. Co-Chair positions will serve a two-year minimum term with no more than three years to allow for new leadership opportunities for members. There is no term limit for committee membership and there will be no penalty for a committee member to step off the committee.
Communication Dissemination
